The present invention relates to the field of polymer composites, in particular to a thermally conductive polymer composite and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: adding pretreated bio-based nylon, dried modified graphene, a bio-based toughening agent, a bio-based antioxidant and a bio-based lubricant into a mixer, transferring the uniformly mixed materials to a twin-screw extruder for melt extrusion and cooling solidification, and post-treating the extruded pellets to obtain the thermally conductive polymer composite. The present invention uses bio-based nylon as the matrix, graphene surface-modified by a silane coupling agent as the thermally conductive filler to improve the interfacial bonding between graphene and bio-based nylon, and selects a variety of bio-based additives to further enhance the comprehensive properties of the material. Through the twin-screw extrusion process, an environmentally friendly polymer composite with excellent thermal conductivity, mechanical properties and processability is prepared.
