A graphite tailings/polyethylene composite material and a preparation method thereof belong to the technical field of polyethylene composite materials. To develop a composite material with excellent mechanical properties, 5-formyluracil, 5-amino-1-pentanol and benzotriazole tetramethyl tetrafluoroborate are placed in a flask for vacuum drying, then N,N-dimethylformamide and N,N-diisopropylethylamine are added for reaction. After the reaction, filtration, washing and vacuum drying are carried out to obtain hydroxylated formyluracil. Lactide, stannous octoate, N,N-dimethylformamide and hydroxylated formyluracil are reacted under nitrogen protection, followed by washing and vacuum drying to prepare uracil-terminated polylactide interfacial compatibilizer. Graphite tailings powder, polyethylene resin particles and the above compatibilizer are mixed evenly and extruded for molding via a twin-screw extruder to obtain the graphite tailings/polyethylene composite material.
