The invention discloses a customizable polyamide polymer with high molecular weight, excellent color and low gel content, in particular nylon 66, nylon 6 and copolyamide. Specifically, a high molecular weight polyamide polymer is disclosed, which has a relative viscosity greater than 50 measured in 90% formic acid solution, a uniform viscosity less than 1.0 standard deviation, a gel content not greater than 50 ppm measured by an insoluble substance greater than 10 microns, and an optical defect amount less than 2000 parts per million (ppm) measured by an optical control system (OCS). Polymers can be made into monofilament or multifilament yarns. A method for producing polymers using inline vacuum refining technology in the second step or post condensation step of the polymer process without the presence of steam or other gases has also been disclosed.
