The present invention provides a method for preparing a matte poly(lactic acid) fiber. The raw material components and weight percentages are as follows: lactide/copolymer monomer 100 parts, matting agent 0.3–5 parts, initiator 0.01–0.4 parts, catalyst 0.1–3 parts, antioxidant 0.5–2 parts, lubricant 0.3–1.3 parts. A matte agent inert to the polymerization reaction is added in varying proportions prior to the ring-opening polymerization of polylactic acid and its copolymers. Lactide/copolymer monomer ring-opening polymerization is then conducted to produce matte polylactic acid and its copolymer resin materials with different degrees of matting. After extrusion and pelletization via a twin-screw extruder, the material undergoes melt spinning and drawing through a melt spinning machine to yield matte polylactic acid fibers. These matte poly(lactic acid) fibers are fully biodegradable and effectively eliminate glare and flicker. The degree of matting can be adjusted by varying the amount of matting agent added. The preparation method is simple and requires minimal equipment.
