A Low-Melting-Point Ultra-Short Fiber and Method for Its Preparation

The present application relates to a low-melting-point ultra-short fiber and a preparation method thereof. The fiber is an ES composite fiber comprising a sheath layer and a core layer. The material of the sheath layer comprises PE and modified masterbatch; the material of the core layer is PE. For the modified masterbatch, mesoporous silica is first aminated; hyperbranched polymer chains containing ester groups and carboxyl groups are prepared by living radical polymerization; the two undergo a grafting reaction to form an organic whole; then graft polymerization is carried out with PE and maleic anhydride in a reactive twin-screw extruder under the initiation of an initiator. The invention uses polyolefin as the main raw material to produce low-melting-point ultra-short fibers, which effectively controls cost and improves softness compared with polyester. The addition of modified masterbatch in the sheath layer weakens the intermolecular force of PE and the interaction between crystals, effectively lowering the melting point of the sheath layer. The production process runs smoothly, and phenomena such as pulp formation, flying filaments and roller winding are within a controllable range.
