The present invention provides a method for enhancing the melt strength of biodegradable plastics, involving a modification technique for biodegradable polymers. The process comprises: mixing a matrix, an active functional group melt-strengthening agent, and a catalyst; feeding the mixture into a twin-screw extruder; and reacting and extruding to obtain biodegradable plastic. Applied to bio-based biodegradable plastics such as polylactic acid (PLA), this method significantly improves melt strength and thermoformability.
