The present invention relates to the field of polymer materials and discloses a method for preparing ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer itself, and its applications. The method comprises: polymerizing ethylene with vinyl acetate in a loop reactor in the presence of an organic peroxide to obtain melt I; melt-blending and pelletizing melt I with an antioxidant in a twin-screw extruder to obtain the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. The ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer prepared using the method provided by the invention exhibits high permeability, high volume resistivity, fewer crystalline spots, low yellow index, and excellent mechanical properties, thereby meeting the performance requirements for photovoltaic encapsulation films.
