A Spinning Method for Direct Melt Extrusion of Polyphenylene Sulfide Powder

The present invention discloses a spinning method for directly melt-extruding polysulfone powder, comprising the following process steps:

Compressing polysulfone resin powder to expel air, then forcibly feeding it into a twin-screw extruder;

Subjecting the feedstock to negative pressure evacuation at the inlet before entering the feed section, where nitrogen is introduced to obtain oxygen-free powder;

The oxygen-free powder is conveyed to the melt section of the twin-screw extruder, undergoes dehydration and devolatilization treatment, and is then fed into a devolatilization vessel equipped with nozzles.

Water vapor, solvents, and low-molecular-weight volatiles are extracted from the polysulfone melt entering the devolatilization vessel.

Subsequently, the melt is pumped from the vessel to a filter via a melt pump, filtered, metered by a metering pump, and introduced into a spinning bath for spinning.

This invention employs a spinning method for direct melt extrusion of polysulfone powder using the aforementioned structure.

It eliminates the need for pelletization and drying prior to screw melt extrusion, thereby reducing process steps, enhancing production efficiency, minimizing air-resin contact at high temperatures, preventing oxidative degradation, and lowering production costs.
