Antimicrobial Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer Material, Its Preparation Method, and Application

The present invention discloses an antibacterial thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer material, its preparation method, and its application in manufacturing wristbands, cutting boards, and phone cases. The preparation method comprises: introducing macromolecular diols, diisocyanates, chain extenders through a first feed port into a twin-screw extruder; adding a mercaptan-containing alcohol and/or acid through a second feed port into the twin-screw extruder; extruding the polyurethane elastomer material with terminal mercaptan groups; and then mixing it with a silver ion antibacterial agent before feeding it back into the twin-screw extruder for pelletization, yielding the antibacterial thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer material. The antimicrobial agent of this invention can be uniformly distributed throughout the bulk and surface of the product. On one hand, this keeps silver ions in a stable state, preventing them from undergoing color-changing reactions with oxygen in the air and thus avoiding color changes in the product. On the other hand, the dissolution rate of silver ions bound to sulfhydryl groups in the bulk is slowed, significantly extending the antimicrobial efficacy.
