This invention discloses a styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer graft composite material, comprising: 15-35 parts by weight of styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer, 50-70 parts of polyolefin resin, 5-20 parts of functional monomer, and 0.2-2 parts of initiator. It also includes a preparation method, comprising: mixing the initiator and functional monomer at room temperature under a nitrogen atmosphere; pumping the mixture into a mixer containing SEBS powder, and stirring thoroughly under a nitrogen atmosphere; feeding the mixture and polyolefin resin into a twin-screw extruder for extrusion and granulation under a nitrogen atmosphere; and finally drying and packaging. This invention reduces the main motor current and torque of the composite material extruder, improves production efficiency, and does not reduce the flame retardant performance of the composite material. Compared with oil-filled SEBS composite materials, there is no oil leakage during subsequent processing. The prepared composite material ultimately produces long-chain branching on the SEBS macromolecule, further improving the tensile mechanical properties of the cable material prepared from the composite material.
