A Method for Preparing Reprocessable, Thermosetting, Biodegradable Polyesters via Transesterification

The invention discloses a reprocessable thermosetting biodegradable polyester based on transesterification reaction and its preparation method. The material is synthesized from biodegradable polyester, polyols, epoxy monomers and stabilizers by a reactive twin-screw extruder without metal catalysts. The prepared polyester contains ester groups formed by the reaction between hydroxyl groups of intermediates and epoxy groups of epoxy monomers, as well as residual hydroxyl groups. During secondary processing after molding, these groups participate in transesterification to form a covalent crosslinked network for performance enhancement. Under specific conditions, the topological network changes via transesterification with constant crosslink density, endowing the material with thermoplasticity. Meanwhile, the product retains the biodegradability of raw polyester, improves mechanical properties and exhibits excellent barrier performance.
