The present invention discloses a toughening functional masterbatch and a preparation method thereof, belonging to the technical field of plastic masterbatches. The preparation method comprises the following steps: drying polylactic acid and modified tetrapod-like zinc oxide whiskers in a vacuum oven at 80°C for 0.5–1 h respectively, then placing them in a high-speed mixer, stirring and mixing at 900–1000 rpm for 8–12 min, and then transferring the mixture into a twin-screw extruder for extrusion and pelletization to obtain a toughening functional masterbatch. The mass ratio of polylactic acid to modified tetrapod-like zinc oxide whiskers is 85–90:10–15, wherein the modified tetrapod-like zinc oxide whiskers are hyperbranched polysilane-grafted tetrapod-like zinc oxide whiskers, and the hyperbranched polysilane is obtained by hydrolytic condensation of γ-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, sulfonate group-containing siloxane and nitrogen-phosphorus group-containing siloxane. The modified tetrapod-like zinc oxide whiskers effectively improve the toughness and flame retardancy of polylactic acid, and the obtained toughening functional masterbatch has high practical value.
