The present invention relates to the technical field of 3D printing polymer materials, in particular to a flame-retardant polyetheretherketone composite wire for 3D printing and a preparation method thereof. The composite wire is composed of the following raw materials in weight percentage: 70–90% polyetheretherketone, 5–15% carbon fiber and 5–15% glass fiber, wherein the carbon fiber is treated by anodic oxidation and the glass fiber is treated by a silane coupling agent. The above raw materials are dried, uniformly mixed by a high-speed mixer, melt-extruded and pelletized by a twin-screw extruder to obtain composite pellets. The composite pellets are dried, then secondarily extruded and drawn to obtain a composite wire suitable for fused deposition modeling 3D printing. By setting appropriate 3D printing parameters, the composite wire is fed into a fused deposition 3D printer to obtain 3D printed products with excellent printing quality. The present invention effectively improves the strength and modulus of polyetheretherketone by adding carbon fiber and glass fiber. Due to the synergistic flame-retardant effect of carbon fiber and glass fiber, the heat release rate and smoke production during combustion of polyetheretherketone are significantly reduced.
