High-Strength Modified PET Foam, Its Preparation Method and Application

This invention relates to a high-strength modified PET foam, its preparation method, and its applications, belonging to the field of wind turbine blade manufacturing technology. The high-strength modified PET foam comprises the following raw materials: polyethylene terephthalate, polytetrafluoroethylene, chopped glass fibers, hollow glass microspheres, coupling agent, dispersant, chain extender, and physical blowing agent. In this invention, PET resin, chopped glass fibers, and other fillers and additives are pre-mixed and granulated using a twin-screw extruder to obtain PET foam masterbatch. Then, the PET foam masterbatch is mixed with a certain amount of hollow glass microspheres through side feeding to produce the high-strength PET foam. The resulting PET foam has a low density and balanced mechanical properties, making it suitable for use as a core material in wind turbine blades.
