The present invention belongs to the technical field of polypropylene resin production, and specifically relates to an extrusion-blowing grade transparent polypropylene resin and a preparation method thereof, comprising the following steps: adding a rare earth modifier WT to an α-nucleating agent and stirring to 100–105°C to prepare a modified α-nucleating agent; mixing the α-nucleating agent modified by the rare earth modifier WT, a primary antioxidant, an auxiliary antioxidant and an acid scavenger to obtain a nucleating agent mixture; adding polypropylene to the nucleating agent mixture to obtain a polypropylene composition mixture; feeding the composition mixture into a twin-screw extruder for extrusion and granulation to obtain extrusion-blowing grade transparent polypropylene pellets; wherein the rare earth modifier WT comprises a metal ester pyrophosphate and a light rare earth oxide or a light rare earth organic complex. By using the rare earth modifier WT, the present invention improves the nucleation and dispersion effects of the nucleating agent through interfacial interaction and synergistic effect, and enhances the transparency and aging resistance of the extrusion-blowing grade polypropylene.
