The present invention relates to laser marking materials, and discloses a laser engraving masterbatch for PBT and a preparation method thereof, comprising the following steps: S1) respectively weighing laser powder, nano filler, emulsifier and organic solvent, sequentially adding them into an ultrasonic disperser, stirring, filtering to separate excess organic solvent, and vacuum drying to obtain first pretreated laser powder; S2) respectively weighing an antioxidant and a lubricant, sequentially adding the first pretreated laser powder, antioxidant and lubricant into a high-speed pulverizer, pulverizing and dispersing to obtain second pretreated laser powder; S3) weighing a coating resin, sequentially feeding the second pretreated laser powder and the coating resin into a twin-screw extruder, heating to melt and extrude to prepare the laser engraving masterbatch for PBT; the laser powder is bismuth oxide. The present invention can avoid discoloration of the laser powder therein during the extrusion and pelletization process of the extruder, thereby improving the clarity and color consistency of laser marking on PBT materials.
