The present invention discloses a high-barrier polyamide masterbatch and its preparation method. The masterbatch is a mixture comprising, per 100 parts by weight: 30–45 parts C-MMT/C-LDH, 50–65 parts carrier resin, 0.3–1.5 parts hyperbranched rheology modifier, 0.3–2 parts antioxidant, and 0.5–1.5 parts coupling agent. First, all raw materials except the coupling agent are mixed in proportion, thoroughly stirred in a kneader, and dried under vacuum at 60–100°C to produce a crude material. The crude material is then pulverized, uniformly mixed with the coupling agent, melted, extruded, and pelletized via a twin-screw extruder to yield the masterbatch product. The masterbatch of this invention can be directly added to the polyamide matrix in proportion to effectively improve the barrier properties of polyamide materials. The preparation method of this invention is operationally convenient, offers excellent barrier and processing properties, and possesses significant industrial production value.
