A highly filled barium sulfate/PP composite material and its preparation method

The present application relates to a highly filled barium sulfate/PP composite material and a preparation method thereof. Firstly, mineral powder is sieved, an inorganic powder rheological agent with a particle size distribution of 0.5–5 μm and barium sulfate are added into a high-speed mixer, stirred at 90°C for 30 minutes, a coupling agent is added, stirring is continued, and the mixture is cooled and discharged to obtain organically modified barium sulfate and a rheological agent. The mixture is uniformly blended with PP and extruded and pelletized by a twin-screw extruder to obtain a composite material with a BaSO₄ content of 50–80 wt%. In the present application, barium sulfate and the inorganic powder rheological agent WN1212 are simultaneously subjected to coupling surface modification. The smaller particle size WN1212 is easily adsorbed on the surface of barium sulfate and isolates and disperses barium sulfate. During melt blending with a polymer, the improved fluidity of the polymer enables the surrounding barium sulfate to act as a heterogeneous nucleating agent for polymer crystallization, thereby achieving high filling of barium sulfate while maintaining excellent mechanical properties.
