A Mechanically Enhanced Polypropylene Material and Its Preparation Method

The present invention provides a mechanically reinforced polypropylene material and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method is as follows: taking a polypropylene base material, mechanically reinforced filler treated by a coupling agent, ethylene propylene diene monomer and magnesium stearate, and mixing uniformly by a high-speed mixer; adding the mixture into a twin-screw extruder for melt blending and granulation to obtain mechanically reinforced polypropylene pellets; and injecting the mechanically reinforced polypropylene pellets by an injection molding machine to obtain the mechanically reinforced polypropylene material. In the present invention, the mechanically reinforced filler treated by a coupling agent enhances the mechanical properties of polypropylene; the mechanically reinforced filler has a network structure and bears most external loads by virtue of its load transfer characteristics, thereby improving the bearing capacity of polypropylene. In the preparation of the mechanically reinforced filler, yttrium hexaboride ceramic particles are added, which can not only introduce aluminum borate whiskers but also induce the formation of yttrium oxide. Aluminum borate and yttrium oxide particles can not only improve the mechanical properties of the material but also enhance the oxidation resistance of polypropylene.
