A Polyolefin Microsphere Prepared by Reaction Extrusion, Its Preparation Method, and Application

This invention provides a method for preparing polyolefin microspheres via reactive extrusion, as well as their preparation method and applications, belonging to the field of polyolefin chemical modification technology. The method involves adding polyolefin powder, acrylate monomers, and a free radical regulator to a twin-screw extruder for melt extrusion and granulation. After pulverizing the granules, they are added to a pressure reactor. After heating and melting, a dispersant and water are added, and the mixture is stirred for a certain time to obtain a polyolefin microsphere emulsion. Finally, the polyolefin microsphere emulsion is applied to a coated diaphragm. Compared to previously reported batch reaction techniques, this invention utilizes a twin-screw extrusion method in the preparation of acrylate-modified polyolefin powder, offering the advantage of continuous processing; the in-situ polymerization modification during melt extrusion results in a higher monomer conversion rate. Simultaneously, the high-temperature melt dispersion emulsification method allows for the use of only 0.1% dispersant in the polymer microsphere emulsion, with a median particle size controlled at 1-5 μm and a uniform particle size distribution.
